PC - To run Puzzle Castle on your PC, you need windows 3.1 or
Windows '95. If you are not using Windows '95 you will need at least MS DOS 5.0
or later. You will also need A 486- 66 Megahertz or better, 8 megabytes of RAM
or more, a double speed CD ROM drive, a Sound Blaster 16 or compatible, and 13
megabytes of hard drive space.
MAC - To run Puzzle Castle on your Macintosh you need a Motorola 680/40 25
Megahertz or higher, or any power PC Macintosh processor. A double speed CD-ROM
drive, 8 megabytes of RAM, 13 megabytes of disk space, System 7.1 or higher,
and a monitor with at least 640 by 480 screen resolution and 256 colors.
Sound in Puzzle Castle will cut out in the middle of the game or
not come up at all sometimes.
Note: sound is turned up and down with the up/down arrow keys. Background sound
is turned on and off with either "S" or "s". If neither of these work, the only
fix is to remove and reinstall. This seems to be mostly a Windows 95 problem.
You may receive a "Need specific DLL to print the certificate..."
This appears to be printer specific. You can search the web for the printer DLL
or use the common work around.
Simply hit the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard, while viewing the
Certificate, then close Puzzle Castle and open up "Paint" then copy the image
into a new paint file and "Print."
PROBLEM: No sound or hesitant sound in Puzzle Castle.
SOLUTION: Here are a few ideas.
1. If the sound is just turned down low, you can raise and
lower the volume with the up and down arrow keys.
2. If you just want to hear the voice instructions at the beginning of each
puzzle, you can click the ? for a brief hint. You can leave and come back to
that screen, and the instructions will replay. Or press S for save, then cancel
out by clicking the right arrow, and the instructions will replay.
3. You might also want to check the Volume Setting on the Task Bar (double
click the yellow speaker), or check the volume knob on your speakers.
KEYBOARD COMMANDS:
S - save game
L - load game
Up arrow - volume up
Down arrow - volume down
Right arrow - advance to next screen
Left arrow - previous screen
Space bar - main puzzle-fox navigation screen
Sometimes during game play, the game may slow down. To Speed up the
game, you can do a number of things:
1. Press R to turn on/off the random animations.
2. Press M to turn on/off the background music.
3. Press H to turn off Jester Jim and Cecil the Ghost (two little characters
that will show up randomly throughout the game and give bonus points).

Sometimes, after installing the Puzzle Castle game onto a computer,
the game may run with no sound. This is NOT a common problem, but if the no
sound problem should occur, we recommend that you UN-install Puzzle Castle,
then RE-install the game again. This should give you full sound.
To do this in Windows 95:
1. Go to START, SETTINGS, and then CONTROL PANEL.
2. Double-click the DISPLAY icon.
3. Click the SETTINGS tab.
4. In the setting for 'Color Palette,' click the scroll arrow and choose '256
Colors' from the list of available options.
5. Click APPLY.
6. Click OK and restart your system if prompted.
To do this in Windows 3.1:
1. Go to the MAIN group.
2. Double-click the WINDOWS SETUP icon.
3. Choose OPTIONS, then CHANGE SYSTEM SETTINGS.
4. Select DISPLAY and choose the appropriate 256 color driver for your video
card.
NOTE: It is recommended that you contact your video card manufacturer and
obtain the latest drivers for your video card, as some older cards may not
support 256 color correctly without the latest drivers.

The error message that you're getting is probably as follows:
The Puzzle Castle CD-ROM was not found in the CD-ROM drive.
Please insert it in a CD-ROM drive and press Retry.
Pressing Retry will not help. This is a problem with the CD.
To get around it, you can press the Cancel button, then double left click your
My Computer icon, single right click on your CD-ROM drive, when the menu pops
up, single left click on Open. A window with the contents of the CD
should now come up. Within this window, double left click on Pzcastle.exe
and this should run Puzzle Castle.
You can also single left click on the Start button, single left click on the
Run button and type in the following path: D:\Pzcastle.exe
(this assumes that your CD-ROM is drive D).
When you insert the Puzzle Castle CD into the CD-ROM Drive, an auto
play screen will appear, which allows you to click on a "Play" button and go
directly into the game. However, this process does NOT create a Puzzle Castle
program group into your start menu. If you want the game to create a program
group, you need to install the game using the "Add/Remove Programs" icon, which
can be found in the Control Panel. Once you've clicked on the "Add/Remove
Programs" icon, the game will install Puzzle Castle and add a program group
called "Media Station" into your Start Menu.
To temporarily disable AutoPlay, hold down the SHIFT key on the
keyboard when inserting the CD in the CD-ROM drive, and the AutoPlay screen
will not appear. This is helpful if you want to perform some other function
before installing the game onto your computer.
Before installing Puzzle Castle onto your Windows '95 system, be sure to close
down any applications running and turn off any screen savers you may be using.
Screen savers could affect the colors and animation or interfere with
installation. While you are running Windows '95, put the CD in the CD-ROM drive
and close the CD-ROM drive door. If your CD-ROM driver is configured for
AutoPlay, you will see a dialog box open and you must click on the setup button
before you will be able to play. Follow the on screen instructions to perform
the installation. Click on play to start Puzzle Castle. There are some CD-ROM
drives that do not yet support the AutoPlay function of Windows '95. If The
dialog box does not appear after a few moments of putting in the CD-ROM this
may be the cause. In order to install Puzzle Castle, first open the start menu
on the task bar. Select the RUN option from the start menu. A dialog box will
appear . In the opened box type D: Setup. This is assuming that D is the letter
of your CD-ROM drive. Now click on the O.K. button and the Puzzle Castle setup
screen should appear. Click on the setup button to install Puzzle Castle.
Before you install Puzzle Castle onto your Windows 3.1 system, be
sure to close down any applications running and turn off any screen savers you
may be using. Screen savers could affect the colors and animation or interfere
with installation. While you are running Windows, put the CD in the CD-ROM
drive and close the CD-ROM drive door. From the program manager, select file on
the menu bar. Then choose run. A command line box will appear. In the box type
D: setup. This is assuming that D is the letter of your CR-ROM drive. Click on
the O.K. button. Follow the instructions on the screen. When the installation
is done, you will return to the Program Manager and see a new program group
named Media Station, with icons for Puzzle Castle, Puzzle Castle Help, and
Puzzle Castle UN-install. Double click on The Puzzle Castle icon to begin to
play.
For Windows 3.1, double click on the Puzzle Castle UN-install icon
in the media station program group. Follow the instructions on the screen. For
Windows '95, click the start button on the task bar, which is usually at the
bottom of the screen, to bring up the start menu. Then select the settings
option and click on "control panel." In control panel, double click on the "add
remove programs" icon. A list of all your programs will appear in a box, where
you can search for Puzzle Castle and select it. Now, click on the "remove"
button. A dialog box will appear and it will ask you if you want to delete the
file. Click on the "yes" button and now Puzzle Castle will be removed from your
system.
